Sea of Stars Official Introduction

*Sea of Stars is now live! Save up to -10%!*

Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG formula in terms of turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun.

It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.

Traverse seamlessly through the world with a navigation system that breaks free from the classic bound-to-the-grid tileset movement and fight enemies in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding.

FEATURES

- Engaging turn-based combat: Along with timed hits, combat features combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system, all in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding.

- Full-on dynamic lighting: Our custom-made render pipeline allows the creation of a breathtaking world coming to life by pushing the limits of 2D pixel-art games.

- A story-rich adventure: Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production.

- A world you can touch: Sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song or play the infamous tabletop game known as "Wheels"... every system has been designed to deliver an experience that pays respect to retro classics, while rethinking in some areas to offer a smooth and modernized experience.

Sea of Stars Tips

Sea of Stars Android Beginner’s Guide: Stop Screwing Up & Start Winning

Sea of Stars is finally on Android, and it’s every bit as good as the console version (maybe even better on mobile, tbh). But if you’re new to this retro-inspired RPG, you’re gonna make mistakes. Big ones. I’m here to keep you from face-planting in your first boss fight or wasting hours grinding for no reason.

First off, forget everything you know about JRPGs. This game doesn’t coddle you. HP and MP? They don’t auto-refill—like, at all. No save point heals, no post-battle regen. So stop hoarding potions and cook meals before tough fights. Food’s free (if you grab ingredients while exploring) and heals both HP and MP, which keeps you from spamming magic and getting stuck mid-fight.

Combat’s where most newbies mess up, so let’s fix that fast. Timed hits and blocks aren’t optional—they’re your lifeline. Hit the attack button right when your character swings, and you’ll dish out extra damage. Do the same when enemies attack, and you’ll take way less hurt. Nail this, and you’ll save dozens of healing items by the end of the first island.

Another non-negotiable: break enemy locks first. When a bad guy winds up a big attack, symbols (slash, blunt, sun, moon) pop up. Hit ’em with the matching damage type, and you’ll cancel or weaken their move. Break all locks? They lose their turn entirely. Pro tip: use Live Mana orbs (dropped from normal attacks) to power up these hits—no MP needed, which is a game-changer early on.

Exploration > grinding. Trust me, this game’s balanced so you don’t need to farm exp. Areas scale with your level, and the next zone’s exp rewards are way better. Instead of fighting every enemy, sneak up on ’em from behind for a free Live Mana and a sneak attack. And if you’re low on health? Just run past ’em—enemies are on the overworld, so no random encounters to ruin your day.

Quick pro tips to level up fast: Prioritize magic for Zale and melee for Valere. Always pick MP when leveling up—it makes a huge difference early. Don’t buy food; grab ingredients while exploring. And talk to NPCs—most have garbage dialogue, but some drop hints for hidden secrets (super useful late game).

Look, Sea of Stars is all about taking your time. Explore every nook, mess up a few fights, and learn the mechanics. It’s a retro RPG done right, and with these tips, you’ll go from noob to pro in no time. No fancy tricks, just common sense to keep you from wasting time.
