So I finally caved and downloaded Crossy Road by HIPSTER WHALE, the game that's been around forever but somehow I never got around to playing. After a bunch of runs with that poor chicken, I get why it's got over 250 million downloads -3. It's stupid simple but weirdly addictive.

What's the Deal?

It's an endless hopper—you guide your character across roads, train tracks, and rivers without dying -3. Each step forward is one point. Sounds easy until a random truck flattens you or you misjudge a log and go for a swim. The pixel art style is charming, and there's something like 28 different worlds and over 300 characters to unlock -3-6. Yeah, 300.

Quick Tips for Not Dying Immediately

After eating pavement more times than I'd admit, here's what actually works:

1. Stay centered

When possible, keep your character toward the middle of the screen -1-4. Gives you room to dodge left or right when traffic gets sketchy. On rivers, this is extra important so you don't get pushed to the edge and drown.

2. Look ahead, not at your feet

Keep your eyes 2-3 tiles forward -10. Spot train lights early, see where logs are lining up, and plan your route before you're stuck. Reacting last-second usually ends badly.

3. Use medians as safe zones

Those grassy strips between lanes? Treat them like checkpoints -10. Pause there, watch traffic patterns, then make your move. Much better than panic-hopping into a speeding car.
