Squad Alpha Tips
Squad Alpha Newbie Guide: Easy Tips to Level Up Fast & Win Battles
If you’re new to Squad Alpha and feel overwhelmed by all the guns and characters, don’t stress—I’ve got your back. This is a super fun vertical shooting game for Android, and it’s easy to get hooked once you know the basics. I’ll skip the boring stuff and give you the real tips to level up fast, unlock cool characters, and crush every level.
First off, let’s talk about the most important thing for new players: unlocking characters. You start with Character 7, which is fine, but you need to unlock better ones ASAP. My top tip? Go for the shotgun character first—you only need 5 shards to get him, and he’s super useful even if you don’t use a shotgun. Trust me, he’ll make early levels way easier.
Character 7 is okay for starters, though. His passive lets him bounce 10% of damage to nearby enemies when using pistols, assault rifles, or SMGs. His skill makes that 100% for 10 seconds—perfect for crowd control. But don’t stick with him forever; unlock the shotgun guy (Colt Bro) and the teleport guy (Bede Tucker) as soon as you can. Colt has a shield skill that makes you invincible for 3 seconds, and Bede can slow time and teleport—total game-changers.
Now, weapons. There are 6 types: assault rifles, shotguns, SMGs, snipers, pistols, and explosives. Each has 4-5 options, so don’t just pick the first one you see. Match your weapon to the level: use shotguns for tight spaces, snipers for long-range, and assault rifles for all-around. You don’t need to grind for the best weapons early—just use whatever drops that’s a little better than your current one.
Here’s a pro tip for leveling up: don’t waste time on hard levels. Stick to the first level (Recruit 1) once you get a good assault rifle. It’s easy to beat, and the rewards (cash, gems, weapon parts) are almost the same as harder levels. Plus, every weapon you scrap—even 1-star ones—gives you tokens and parts. Just make sure you finish your daily hunt to fill your treasure chests, then open them later for free rewards.
Don’t forget about upgrades. Weapon parts come from expeditions and missions—5 parts of the same level can be combined to make a better one. Tools (used for big upgrades) come from combining 1000 weapon parts or expeditions. Save your tools and green+ parts for later; scrap white parts for tokens once you have too many.
A few quick battle tips: Use cover! Don’t stand out in the open—you’ll get gunned down fast. Try S-shaped movement if enemies are targeting you; it’s harder for them to hit you. And use your character’s skills wisely—Colt’s shield when you’re surrounded, Bede’s teleport to escape or get behind enemies. Timing your skills is key to winning tough battles.
The game has over 200 levels, so there’s always something new. It’s got a simple cartoon style, and the controls are easy—one-hand vertical play, just aim and shoot. No complicated buttons, just pure shooting fun. The best part? You can unlock almost every character and weapon by just playing daily—no need to spend a ton of time grinding.
Overall, Squad Alpha is perfect if you want a fun, fast-paced shooting game that’s not too hard to pick up. Follow these tips, unlock the right characters, and you’ll be crushing levels and dominating battles in no time.
