Editor's Review
Crying Suns takes the tactical tension of FTL and wraps it in a narrative that actually makes you care about what you're fighting for. I jumped into my first run expecting a straightforward rogue-lite, but the story pulled me in—each chapter revealing more about the fallen empire and my own role in its collapse.

Crying Suns Tips
Let me cut straight to it—Crying Suns by Humble Games is the space tactical roguelite you didn’t know you needed on Android. It’s like FTL had a baby with Dune and Foundation, then raised it on 80s sci-fi anime. You’re a cloned admiral waking up to a fallen interstellar empire, commanding a battlecruiser through six brutal sectors of war, mystery, and existential dread. I’ve sunk 20+ hours into it—lost fleets, screamed at RNG, and cried at the ending—so here’s the unfiltered truth: what works, what doesn’t, and the 5 beginner hacks that’ll save you from quitting on sector 2.
First, the big picture—this ain’t your average mobile strategy game. It’s split into two core loops: exploration and combat. Exploration has you jumping between star systems, managing fuel, crew, and resources while dealing with randomized events that range from “save the refugees” to “fight space pirates” to “discover ancient alien tech”. Combat is where it shines—hex-grid battles with fighter/frigate/drone squadrons in a rock-paper-scissors system (fighters beat drones, drones beat frigates, frigates beat fighters). You target enemy subsystems (weapons, engines, shields) to disable them before they blow you to bits. It’s tense, tactical, and so satisfying when you pull off a perfect flanking maneuver.
Now the pros that make it a must-play:
Storytelling masterclass: 6 chapters of dark, dramatic sci-fi that’ll hook you from the first clone activation. The writing’s sharp, the voice acting’s top-notch, and the ending will leave you thinking for days.
Mobile port done right: Redesigned interface with intuitive touch controls, no F2P garbage, no ads—just pay once and own the whole thing. It runs smooth even on mid-range Androids.
Replayability through the roof: Multiple ship classes (Templar, Void, Juggernaut), 20+ unique officers with passive/active abilities, and randomized sector layouts mean no two runs feel the same.
Atmosphere to die for: 16-bit pixel art that looks like a Studio Ghibli space opera, a synthwave soundtrack that’ll make you feel like you’re piloting a ship through a neon nebula, and sound design that makes every explosion hit.
