Star Trek Fleet Command Tips

Star Trek Fleet Command: Beginner’s Survival Guide – Stop Getting Wrecked Early

Star Trek Fleet Command is a fun MMORTS, but it’ll chew you up and spit you out if you rush in blind. I’ve seen too many new players blow through their early game, get wrecked by PvP, and quit before they even hit the good stuff. This guide’s gonna fix that—no fluff, just the real-deal tips you need to survive and thrive, even if you’re a total noob.

First off, forget everything you know about “leveling fast” in other games. This ain’t that. Your level’s tied to your Operations building—if that’s level 7, you’re level 7. Rush it to 15, and you’re throwing a neon sign that says “raid me” to every high-level player. Hold off on hitting 15 until you’ve finished all the research you can. Trust me, getting raided and losing all your resources sucks way more than waiting a little longer.

Next, missions are your bread and butter—especially overlapping ones. Main quests are priority, but when you’re stuck waiting for buildings or research to finish, hit up side missions. Look for planets with yellow exclamation marks in systems around your level (or 1-2 levels higher). The trick? Grab multiple quests that ask for the same thing—like killing hostiles or mining tritanium—and knock ’em all out at once. Saves so much time, you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of it first.

Relocating your base is non-negotiable, but don’t just pick any old spot. By level 6, the game’ll make you move, and you only get 3 Relocate Tokens to start. Pick a system that’s not packed with other noobs, and stay close to dilithium or tritanium deposits—you’ll need tons of both early on. I went with Maglynn, and the nearby tritanium nodes kept me stocked for weeks. Bonus: The players there were low-level, so I didn’t have to worry about getting attacked 24/7.

Alliances matter more than you think. The game’s auto-recommended alliances at level 3? Most are dead. Hit up the chat and find an active group—people who actually help with construction and cover your back. If you’re stuck waiting for a building to finish, ask your alliance for help. It cuts down the time big time, and you’ll need those allies when PvP hits.

Quick bonus tips: Focus on building parsteel generators first—parsteel’s your most needed resource early on. Ships need schematics (get ’em from missions), and officers require recruit tokens (you’ll earn ’em, but no free summons, sadly). And explore—seriously. The map’s full of hidden missions and resources, and the faster you learn your way around, the better.

Look, STFC ain’t perfect—it’s basically Rise of Civilizations in space—but it’s a blast if you play smart. Don’t rush, stack your quests, pick a good base spot, and stick with an active alliance. Do that, and you’ll be leading your fleet like a pro in no time. Live long and prosper, cadets.
