Nomad Sculpt Official Introduction

• Sculpting tools

Clay, flatten, smooth, mask and many other brushes will let you shape your creation.

You can also use the trim boolean cutting tool with lasso, rectangle and other shapes, for hardsurface purposes.

• Stroke customization

Falloff, alphas, tilings, pencil pressure and other stroke parameters can be customized.

You can save and load your tools preset as well.

• Painting tools

Vertex painting with color, roughness and metalness.

You can easily manage all your material presets as well.

• Layers

Record your sculpting and painting operations in separate layers for easier iteration during the creation process.

Both the sculpting and painting changes are recorded.

• Multiresolution sculpting

Go back and forth between multiple resolution of your mesh for a flexible workflow.

• Voxel remeshing

Remesh quickly your mesh to get a uniform level of detail.

It can be used to quickly sketch a rough shape at the beginning of the creation process.

• Dynamic topology

Refine locally your mesh under your brush to get an automatic level of detail.

You can even keep your layers, as they will be automatically updated!

• Decimate

Reduce the number of polygons by keeping as many details as possible.

• Face Group

Segment your mesh into subgroups with the face group tool.

• Automatic UV unwrap

The automatic UV unwrapper can use face groups to control the unwrapping process.

• Baking

You can transfer vertex data such as color, roughness, metalness and small scaled detail in to textures.

You can also do the opposite, transfering textures data into vertex data or layers.

• Primitive shape

Cylinder, torus, tube, lathe and other primitives can be used to quickly start new shapes from scratch.

• PBR rendering

Beautiful PBR rendering by default, with lighting and shadows.

You can always switch to matcap for a more standard shading for sculpting purposes.

• Post processing

Screen Space Reflection, Depth of Field, Ambient Occlusion, Tone mapping, etc

• Export and Import

Supported formats include glTF, OBJ, STL or PLY files.

• Interface

Nomad Sculpt Tips

Nomad Sculpt: Android 3D Sculpting for Newbies—No Fancy Skills Needed

Ever wanted to mess around with 3D sculpting but thought it’s too complicated? Nomad’s here to prove you wrong—super user-friendly, works great on Android tablets (especially with a pressure-sensitive stylus, like Samsung’s S Pen or Apple Pencil if you’re on iPad), and feels familiar even if you’ve never touched ZBrush or Blender.

Let’s dive into the basics. When you open the app, you’ll see a plain sphere—just drag your stylus on it to start sculpting! Symmetry is on by default, so you don’t have to worry about one side looking wonky. Need a bigger/smaller brush? Use the radius slider on the left. Want to push harder or softer? That’s the intensity slider next to it.

The default tool is Clay—it adds material to the sphere. Tap the “Sub” button on the left to carve away (subtract), tap it again to switch back. Smooth out rough spots with the Smooth button—super handy for blending edges. Mess up? Double-tap with two fingers to undo, or hit the undo button in the bottom left.

Camera controls are intuitive too: Drag empty space to rotate around your model, pinch to zoom, and press two fingers to pan. If you’re on desktop, use Alt/Opt to pan/zoom—just like ZBrush. For Wacom pen users, set the tip to left click, lower rocker to middle click, and upper rocker to right click—you can control the camera with just the pen!

Painting’s a breeze. Grab the Paint tool from the right menu, tap the colored sphere to pick a shade, and start coloring. Need to erase? Hit the Erase button on the left—tap it again to go back to painting. Try combining Clay (add/sub), Smooth, and Paint to make a simple cartoon head—you’ll get the hang of it fast.

The interface isn’t overwhelming. Top menus have scene/tool options (collapses on small screens), the Nav Cube shows your view (tap to jump to sides), and the bottom toolbar has shortcuts like Undo, Grid, and Wireframe. Left-handed? You can mirror all toolbars in settings—nice touch.

New to sculpting? Check out Youtube tutorials: Dave Reed’s crash course, Small Robot Studio’s beginner guide, or SouthernGFX’s “Nomad for Beginners” series—they post new stuff all the time. Once you master the basics, dive into tools like Move, Crease, or Inflate for details, or learn to export models, work with multiple objects, or tweak topology.

Nomad’s perfect for anyone who wants to play with 3D sculpting without the learning curve. No fancy jargon, just fun—give it a go and see what you can create!
