With procedurally generated worlds, tons of crafting systems, and layered boss progression, it’s easy to get stuck aimlessly wandering or dying repeatedly at night. To start your playthrough on the right foot, skip hardcore or mediumcore difficulty and stick with Softcore mode. It still offers plenty of challenge but comes with forgiving mechanics that let you learn without constant frustrating resets. Small and medium-sized worlds are also far better for new players, as they centralize resources, biomes and key landmarks to avoid endless empty exploration.
