Editor's Review

Guesswork won’t help you catch bass. Fishing Points actually tells you when the fish are feeding—down to the hour. I’ve used its tide charts and lake contours to find spots I would’ve missed. The offline NOAA maps saved me on a river with no signal. Solid for any salt or freshwater angler who wants less luck and more data.

Fishing Points Official Introduction

Explore our detailed fishing forecasts to discover the best fishing times for your location. Understand how fish brain works by analyzing fishing tides, moon phases, marine forecasts, solunar and weather forecasts. We show current conditions and forecasts for temperature, rain probability, rain intensity, wind speed, gusts, wind directions and air pressure all in one app.

To know where to fish, explore four different fishing map types, now enhanced with lake depths and lake contour maps (available for now in Florida, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Washington). Save and discover fishing spots, favorite locations, trotlines, and trolling paths. Fishing Points Tips

Enough with the setup—here’s the beginner tips you actually need (trust me, I wasted 30 minutes trying to mark a spot wrong at first):

1. Master the spot marking first. When you find a good spot, tap the “Mark” button—don’t just rely on your phone’s GPS history. Add a note (like “rocky bottom, good for catfish”) and a photo so you remember why it’s a keeper. Also, use different colors for different spot types (freshwater vs. saltwater) — it’ll save you time later when you’re scrolling through spots.

2. Don’t sleep on the tide and solunar data. This is where the app shines—tides make or break a fishing trip, especially if you’re saltwater fishing. Check the tide chart before you head out; the app shows high/low tide times and even predicts peak feeding hours. Solunar data (moon/sun positions) tells you when fish are most active—ignore this, and you’ll be sitting there for hours with an empty hook.

3. Log every catch, even the small ones. It’s tempting to skip logging tiny panfish, but tracking your catches helps you see patterns—what bait worked, what time of day, what tide. The app lets you add details like fish type, size, and bait used, so over time, you’ll know exactly when and where to fish. Trust me, this will turn you from a casual angler to a consistent one.

Now, the real talk on pros and cons. The good: it’s dead simple to use once you learn the basics. The GPS is accurate, the tide/solunar data is reliable, and it works offline (perfect for remote spots with no cell service). It’s lightweight, runs smooth on any Android phone, and the catch logging feature is a game-changer for serious anglers.

The bad: the free version has ads that pop up when you’re trying to check tides or mark spots—super annoying when you’re in a hurry. Also, some key features (like unlimited spot marking and advanced weather alerts) are locked behind a paid subscription. The interface is a little clunky at first, and it takes a minute to figure out where everything is.
