This is a full-featured digital painting app built for mobile, no fancy tablet required. The free version gives you access to over 100 different brushes (pencils, markers, watercolor, airbrush), multiple layer support (a total game-changer for editing), filters, text tools, gradient fills, and basic animation tools. The biggest win for newbies: no forced watermarks on free exports, and you can save your art in high-quality PNG or JPG formats. It works offline without Wi-Fi, runs smooth on most Android phones (even mid-range ones), and the interface is laid out intuitively once you get the hang of it. The premium version removes ads and unlocks extra brushes/fonts, but the free version is more than enough for beginners.
Quick Newbie Setup & Drawing Steps (Super Easy)
You don’t need any art experience to start — follow these 4 simple steps to make your first drawing:
Create a new canvas first — Open the app, tap the “+” button, pick a standard canvas size (1080x1080 for social art, 1920x1080 for fullscreen) and tap OK. Skip custom sizes at first to keep it simple.
Pick a basic brush to start — Tap the brush icon on the side, choose a simple pencil or round marker (avoid fancy textured brushes first). Adjust size and opacity with the sliders — smaller size for outlines, bigger for coloring.
Use layers to avoid mistakes — Tap the layers button, make a new layer for outlines and another for coloring. This lets you edit one part without ruining the whole drawing, the #1 tip for newbies.
Save your work when done — Tap the save/export button, choose “Save as Image” to keep a high-quality copy to your phone. Always save often so you don’t lose your drawing!
