Editor's Review

Jumped into Blades of Deceron recently—it's basically Mount & Blade but in 2D and on your phone. You pick a faction in this fantasy war, grab a sword or bow, and get into scrappy 10v10 fights. What hooked me is the mix: you're fighting real-time battles, then looting gear like helmets and axes, then recruiting random NPCs you meet wandering around. If you liked Gladihoppers or want something with depth but not too complicated, give this one a shot.

Blades of Deceron Official Introduction

From the creator of Gladihoppers comes Blades of Deceron, an epic medieval fantasy RPG where kingdoms clash, factions rise, and only the strongest survive.

Embark on a journey through the war-torn valley of Brar on the continent of Deceron. Four powerful factions—the Kingdom of Braryrian, the Holy Empire of Azivnia, the Kingdom of Elukhis, and the Clans of Valthir—wage war for control, leaving the land ravaged and infested with bandits. Will you lead your forces to victory and bring peace, or will you carve your own path of conquest?

- 2D Fighting Action: Engage in intense, fast-paced battles with as many as 10v10 on-screen combatants. Wield a vast arsenal of weapons, from swords and axes to polearms and ranged gear. Every fight feels fresh with hundreds of pieces of equipment to discover.

- Campaign Mode: Explore vast lands, conquer towns, castles, and outposts, and recruit soldiers to fight alongside you. Will your faction rise to power or crumble in the face of adversity?

- Create Your Legacy: Start your own faction and dominate the valley. Recruit NPC characters that roam the overworld, take on quests, and build your forces.

- Strategic Depth: Beyond the blade, outsmart your enemies with tactical choices. Conquer key locations, manage your resources, and take control of the war-torn valley.

- RPG Elements: Equip your hero with gear that reflects your playstyle. Helmets, gauntlets, boots, and more—customize your fighter and enhance your combat abilities.

- Unique Races and Classes: Fight as a human or a faun-like hornoof, and master combat skills tied to different weapons—one-handed swords, dual wielding, two-handed axes, and even halberds!

- Future Expansions: Look forward to thrilling minigames, from arena tournaments to fishing, along with an engaging quest system and scene editor, ensuring endless replayability.

Blades of Deceron Tips

Blades of Deceron Beginner’s Guide: Gameplay Hacks & Tips

If you’re into retro pixel RPGs that mix action and strategy, Blades of Deceron is right up your alley. It’s got that classic old-school feel, but don’t let the simple graphics trick you—it’s way deeper than it looks, and newbies can get stuck fast if they don’t know the basics. I’ve been grinding it for a few days, so let me share my no-bull tips to get you started strong, no fancy jargon needed.

Combat’s the heart of the game, so let’s get that down first. It’s not hard once you get the hang of it—just tap enemies on the map to start fighting. On the battle screen, left side moves your character, right side has all your attacks—mix ’em up to take down baddies quick. Beat ’em, and you’ll get loot to level up and grab better gear—simple enough, right?

One newbie mistake I made: sleeping on the Shrines. These things are lifesavers, especially on hard levels—they let you respawn and extend final battle time. First respawn costs 200 shards, and each one after goes up by 50, so use ’em wisely. Don’t waste shards on easy fights; save ’em for when you’re really stuck.

Classes and weapons are another big one—don’t just pick the first one you see. There’s warriors, mages, thieves, even faun-like hornhoofs, each with unique skills, and you can switch anytime. Swords, axes, spears—every weapon plays different, so mess around to find what fits your style. And if you’re tired of solo, team up with friends or join a guild to take on tough bosses together—it’s way more fun.

Exploration’s huge too, so don’t rush through the map. It’s full of hidden dangers, random events, chests, and secret resources—keep your eyes peeled. Hit up towns to recruit soldiers or sell junk you don’t need; those recruits will help you take on bigger fights later. Also, dynamic weather changes randomly and messes with your strategy, so pay attention to that.

Getting started is super easy, by the way. Fire up the game, hit “Campaign,” then “New Game.” Customize your character to make it yours—cool little touch—and tap “Start Game.” Move by tapping and dragging the screen, no complicated controls. And if you’re grinding for loot, try the 10v10 battles—fast-paced and loaded with rewards.

Overall, it’s a solid retro RPG. Simple to pick up, but deep enough to keep you coming back. It’s got everything you want—action, strategy, exploration, and even faction wars if you stick around long enough. Perfect if you miss old-school RPGs but want something that’s not too confusing for new players.
