Editor's Review

Guild of Heroes is a satisfying old-school action RPG for Android. I’ve explored its medieval towns and dark dungeons, battling monsters and raiding dragon lairs in a huge fantasy world. Switching freely between mage, archer and warrior keeps combat fun, and crafting various weapons and armor lets you build your own hero. Arena PvP and guild wars bring solid competitive gameplay. With nice graphics and epic quests, it’s great for fans of classic fantasy RPGs and multiplayer PvP on mobile.

Guild of Heroes Tips

Guild of Heroes: What the Game Doesn’t Tell You

So you’ve just jumped into Guild of Heroes, and within the first few minutes you’re probably wondering why the game didn’t bother explaining half of what’s on the screen. Yeah, that’s the experience. It’s a solid action RPG once things click, but the “tutorial” is basically nonexistent—stuff unlocks whenever it feels like it, and you’ll eat dirt a few times before figuring out the simple stuff. Here’s the short version of what I wish someone told me from the start.

The tavern ends up being way more important than it looks. You’ll run into those blue chained chests pretty early—good loot, but you can’t open them alone. You need another player next to you to crack them. Hiring random people from the tavern gets expensive fast when you’re still broke. The play is to stack your friend list early. Add people around your level or a little lower—they’re cheap to bring along. Toss in a few higher-level players too; sometimes they’ll hire you for their missions, and you get a cut of the loot without spending anything. Quickest way to find them is through Facebook groups or community pages for the game.

Classes aren’t a permanent thing, so don’t stress the initial choice. Pick warrior, archer, or mage at the start—it doesn’t lock you in. Swap anytime just by changing your weapon. Sword makes you a warrior, bow an archer, staff a mage. Each plays a little different, so mess around with all three until one clicks. No penalty, no cost.

Combat is straightforward. Tap to move, tap an enemy to swing. Bottom left is your health—tap it to use a potion. Skills sit in the middle, inventory on the right for swapping gear mid-fight. The gold bar above everything is your XP; fill it to level up. That’s really all there is to it.

Grey Haven is your main hub, but most buildings unlock as you level. A few worth keeping an eye on early:

The Brewer makes health potions. Buy in bulk—it’s cheaper per potion even if it takes longer. Upgrade her early; later zones will drain your stash fast.

The Forge upgrades gear. Feed it old equipment you don’t need. Keep your good stuff, use junk to boost it.

The White Wizard levels up your skills using mana. Mana comes from the Jeweler, who shows up as you progress.

Diamonds are the premium currency, and they’re not easy to stack up for free. Hold onto them for things that actually matter—storage expansion (unlocks at level 9) and rare ability gems. You start with three skills and pick up more from dungeon chests later.

Bottom line: focus on leveling, keep your tavern stocked with cheap friends, and don’t overthink the class system. The game does a terrible job explaining itself, but once you get the rhythm down, it’s a fun ride.
