Undead Horde 2 Tips
Undead Horde 2: Necropolis Beginner Guide – Master the Dead Without Getting Smashed
If you’ve been eyeing Undead Horde 2: Necropolis, here’s what you need to know upfront: this isn’t your typical hack-and-slash. Sure, you’re swinging a weapon and commanding skeletons, but the real game is about strategy, army management, and knowing when not to be the hero. It’s a sequel that flips some of the original’s mechanics on their head, and if you go in blind, you’re going to get overwhelmed fast.
The premise is simple—you’re the King of the Dead, rebuilding your army and taking back territory. But the execution? That’s where most new players trip up. Here’s how to skip the frustration and start steamrolling from the jump.
Build Your Army Before Your Ego
You’re a necromancer, not a tank. The game makes this painfully clear once you face more than three enemies at once. Your melee attacks are slow, spells have cooldowns, and your health pool won’t save you. Your real power is in the units you raise.
Unlike the first game, where you raised whatever you just killed, Undead Horde 2 lets you pre-select five unit types into your raise slots. Kill an enemy, then choose which of those five to turn them into. This changes everything. You’re not stuck with random mobs—you can tailor your army to the situation.
Skeletons are your bread and butter early on. Cheap, disposable, and they get the job done.
Ghouls and giants come later for wall-breaking and heavy lifting.
Over 20 unit types total, including scorpions and support units like bards.
Set your slots before battles. Need ranged damage? Load up archers. Facing a fortified base? Bring the big boys.
Stop Rushing Alone
This is the mistake that’ll end your run fastest. Your squad moves as a group, but if you sprint ahead, they lag behind. Enemies will swarm you, and by the time your skeletons catch up, you’re already dead. Always wait for your army to regroup before pushing forward. Keep them on follow, move as a unit, and let them take the hits while you command from the back.
Kill the Buildings, Not Just the Mobs
Here’s something the game doesn’t spell out: enemy spawn points never stop producing until you destroy them. Those little shacks, towers, and outposts? They’ll keep vomiting out enemies forever if you let them. Focus your damage on structures first. Once the spawners are gone, the remaining enemies are just cleanup. It’s a simple shift in priority that makes every fight manageable.
The Necropolis Is Your Real Progression
Your hub area isn’t just a pretty backdrop. It’s where you turn temporary gains into permanent power. Take time to learn what each building does.
Spirit jars drop from clearing stages. Use them at unit-class buildings to upgrade your skeletons, spirits, animals, and more.
Crafting stations let you build gear that actually fits your build. Most loot drops are junk—sell or scrap them and save materials for crafting.
Noble souls unlock permanent stat boosts. Don’t ignore them.
If you just grind battle after battle without upgrading, you’ll hit a wall. The Necropolis breaks up the loop and keeps your army scaling properly.
Don’t Hoard Gear
You’ll drown in loot. Most of it is vendor trash. Get into the habit of selling anything you’re not actively using. Inventory management isn’t glamorous, but it keeps you from getting bogged down. Save your resources for crafting specific pieces instead of clinging to random drops that don’t fit your setup.
Stick with your army, target spawners first, and treat your hub as essential, not optional. Do that, and you’ll go from getting wiped in the first zone to rolling through the campaign like an actual death lord.
