Editor's Review
Microsoft PowerPoint’s mobile app is way more useful than I thought for on-the-go slides. I’ve made quarterly reports, added photos/charts, and practiced presenting with Presenter Coach—it catches my “umms” and fixes pacing. It syncs great with my PC files, no version mess. Perfect for students, pros, or anyone editing/presenting slides anywhere.

Microsoft PowerPoint for Android: The Free Presentation App That Actually Gets It Right
If you’ve ever tried editing a presentation on your phone, you probably know the pain. Tiny menus, missing features, formatting that falls apart the second you open the file. Most mobile office apps feel like afterthoughts—stripped-down versions of the real thing that leave you frustrated and reaching for a laptop.
Microsoft’s PowerPoint Mobile isn’t that. And here’s the kicker: for most Android users, it’s completely free.
The catch is screen size. If your phone or tablet measures 10.1 inches or smaller—which covers basically every phone and a huge chunk of tablets—you get the full core editing experience without paying a dime. Create new presentations. Add slides. Drop in images, charts, animations. All free. Just sign in with a free Microsoft account. Got a bigger tablet? You’ll need an Office 365 subscription to edit. Viewing and presenting stay free, but actual editing gets locked down.
Open the app and it’s immediately familiar. Same ribbon-style layout, same menus, just squeezed onto a phone screen. Microsoft didn’t try to reinvent anything—they just made the desktop interface work with touch. Adding slides is a tap on the “+” button. Text boxes? Tap and type. Charts, SmartArt, transitions—they’re all there. And here’s the impressive part: open a presentation you started on your PC, and it looks exactly the same. No formatting glitches, no missing elements. That alone puts it ahead of most mobile office apps.
Auto-save and OneDrive sync are what make it actually usable. Every edit saves automatically. Start a deck on your laptop, tweak it on your phone while waiting for coffee, then present from your tablet. No emailing files to yourself. No “wait, which version was the final one?” headaches. You can also pull files from SharePoint or Dropbox—the app doesn’t care where your stuff lives.
When it’s time to actually show your slides, PowerPoint Mobile has a trick up its sleeve. The presenter view turns your phone into a remote control. Speaker notes show up on your device, slides go to the big screen. No clicker needed, no squinting at tiny text while everyone stares at you. You can also draw on slides during a presentation to highlight stuff—circles, arrows, whatever. It’s one of those features you don’t think you need until you’re in a meeting and suddenly it saves the day.
If you can’t find a tool, there’s a “Tell Me” search at the top. Tap it, type what you’re looking for, and it takes you straight there. No digging through menus. And while the app handles animations fine, going overboard with them can make editing feel sluggish on older devices—something to keep in mind if you’re working on a budget phone.
PowerPoint Mobile isn’t trying to replace your laptop for heavy design work. Complex layouts, precise alignment, advanced timeline animations—those are still desktop territory. But for everything else? Quick edits before a meeting, building a deck from scratch on your commute, last-minute tweaks while waiting to present—it does all of that without making you want to throw your phone across the room. And again, for most people, it costs nothing. That alone makes it worth having installed.
