Editor's Review
TV Studio Story makes you feel like you’re actually running a network, not just clicking buttons. You pick themes, genres, sets, even the performers. Get the combo right and ratings jump. Get it wrong and… well, that’s why you try again. What caught me off guard was the scouting system—send staff out, they come back with new locations, themes, and decor that actually open up fresh possibilities. Between shows, you’re pushing publicity in magazines or on social media, building an audience that actually cares. Perfect for anyone who ever wondered what it’s like to chase a hit show.

TV Studio Story Tips
TV Studio Story: Stop Guessing Combos, Start Making Hits
Here’s the thing about TV Studio Story—it’s not a game where you can just slap random stuff together and hope for the best. The game punishes chaos and rewards smart pairings. If you’re throwing any genre with any theme and wondering why your ratings tank, I’ve got bad news: it’s not bad luck. It’s bad compatibility.
Compatibility Is Everything
The show quality lives or dies on whether your elements actually work together. Genre, theme, host, even the set decor—they all need to align. Talk Show with Food? That’s just okay. Current Events with Romance? That’s a Masterpiece. The difference is massive.
Hosts and stars have traits too. Blue traits match. Red traits drag everything down. Pick the wrong host for your genre and you’re fighting an uphill battle before the cameras even roll.
Sets Aren’t Just Decoration
Every prop you place boosts specific stats. Direction, Production, whatever. And certain props together trigger combo bonuses—bookshelf next to fridge next to clock actually does something. The game doesn’t spell all of them out, but you’ll notice when your stats jump.
Save your sets. Reuse them. Bigger sets let you hire more stars. More stars mean more fame. More fame fills your studio audience and triggers auras that boost your production. It’s a chain reaction, and skipping set design means breaking it.
Staff: In-House First
Outsiders cost way too much early on. Use your in-house staff. Pick planners with high Ideas, set designers with decent Talent, editors who actually have Edit stats that aren’t embarrassing.
Stick with the same casting agencies. Build rapport. Hire from them repeatedly and they’ll send better talent. Watch for rising stars—they’ve got a purple aura and boost your fame fast. That’s the shortcut to bigger audiences without grinding forever.
Shoot Day: Don’t Waste Time
Shoots are timed, so use your staff cards early. Spend research points to trigger auras—they crank up stat gains during production.
Those gray sad faces? Fix them every time. They give you research points and stat boosts. It’s free value.
If stats are lagging mid-shoot, tweak your decor. Just watch your budget—going over isn’t the end of the world, but it adds up.
Money & Growth
Assign finished shows to the TV Guide. Each time slot hits a different audience, so match your show’s vibe to the slot. Beat rivals in ratings and you unlock bigger broadcast areas. Bigger areas = higher earnings cap.
Scout constantly. Send staff out. New genres, new themes, new decor—all of it unlocks through scouting. It’s the fastest way to expand your options.
Avoid winning the “most goofs” award. It penalizes you. Chase the best show trophy instead. Trophies give permanent buffs that stick around.
Stick to one or two genres at first. Level them up. Branch out later. And yeah, you can’t go bankrupt, but leaning on bailouts is a crutch. Consistent hits are better.
TV Studio Story rewards attention to detail. Nail your combos, build your sets, pick the right talent, and your ratings will climb. Screw it up and you’ll be wondering why your “Variety Show with a Sports theme and a Drama host” is tanking. The game tells you what works—you just have to pay attention.
