Editor's Review
Most navigation apps assume you're in a car. Locus Map assumes you're on a trail. I’ve been using it for hiking and mountain biking, and the offline map selection is the real deal—you download detailed topo maps before heading out, and it works where cell service doesn’t.

Locus Map Tips
Locus Map Outdoor Navigation by Asamm Software, s. r. o.? It’s the ultimate free outdoor navigation app for Android hikers, cyclists, and campers—no cap, no useless fluff. This ain’t some basic map app that dies without WiFi; it’s a heavy-duty tool built for off-grid adventures, with global offline maps, trail tracking, and customizable themes. It’s made for anyone who loves the outdoors but hates getting lost—whether you’re a casual day hiker or a serious backpacker.
App Breakdown (What It Actually Does)
Let’s keep it real: this app’s bread and butter is outdoor navigation, and it crushes it. It uses OpenStreetMap data for global coverage, so you get accurate trails, points of interest, and offline addresses—no more guessing where you are. The maps update regularly (offline maps every 2 months), and you can even use satellite maps for a closer look at terrain.
The interface is a bit clunky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s intuitive. You can search for offline addresses, mark waypoints (like campsites or viewpoints), and share your tracks with friends. It also works with GPS devices, but that’s more for advanced users. No fancy setup—just download your map, pick your theme, and go.
Pros & Minor Flaws
The good: Free offline maps (first 3) are a game-changer for off-grid trips. Map themes are super useful for different activities, and trail tracking is accurate. Global coverage means it works anywhere in the world, and it runs smooth even with spotty service. It’s lightweight and doesn’t hog your phone’s battery—critical for long hikes.
The bad: Newbies will find the interface overwhelming at first (too many buttons). Premium is pricey, and key features like elevation data and offline route planning are locked. Ads pop up occasionally, which is annoying mid-hike. Also, offline map updates cost a small fee if you want the latest version, but old versions work fine.
