Editor's Review
Final Outpost dropped me into a crumbling settlement with a handful of survivors, a few resources, and the quiet threat of zombies closing in. I assigned jobs, built a farm, and thought I was doing fine—then winter hit, food ran out, and I watched half my colony starve. The game doesn’t punish you with cheap tricks; it just lets you make bad decisions and live with them.

Final Outpost: Definitive Tips
New to Final Outpost: Definitive? Don’t lose your outpost to starvation or zombie hordes in the first few days—these straightforward, no-fluff tips will keep your survivors alive and your base growing, no prior survival game experience needed. We’re skipping the fancy jargon and keeping it real, like a quick tip post from a fellow player.
First 30 Minutes: Non-Negotiable Moves
Don’t rush into building every structure you see right away—focus on survival basics first to avoid an early game over. Start by clearing a small patch of land near your starting shelter; this gives you quick materials without straying too far from safety. Next, build basic storage racks immediately—you’ll need to hoard food and raw materials to avoid running dry when zombies attack. Skip fancy upgrades for now; prioritize function over flair.
Citizen Role Assignment: The Most Important Early Choice
Don’t assign all your survivors to one job—balance is everything, and this is where most new players mess up. Start with 2 farmers, 2 guards, 1 scavenger, and 1 builder for your first 6 survivors. Farmers keep food flowing (stick to deer meat early on, it’s the most reliable food source), guards protect your base from small zombie groups, scavengers grab extra materials from the map, and builders keep your walls and shelters repaired. Don’t unlock niche jobs like medics or engineers until you have a steady supply of food and materials—wait until your outpost is stable before branching out.
Resource Management: Don’t Waste a Single Supply
Hoard basic materials like wood and metal first—don’t craft advanced tools or weapons until you have at least 50 of each stored. Only send scavengers out during daylight; nighttime sends stronger zombie groups that will pick off your survivors fast. Don’t rely on deer meat forever, but stick with it for the first 3-5 days to build up a food buffer before planting crops. Also, don’t overbuild structures—each extra building uses more resources and requires more survivors to maintain, which stretches your team thin.
Zombie Horde Defense: Stay Behind Your Walls
Never send your guards out to fight zombies in open ground—keep them behind your defensive walls at all times. Upgrade your walls as soon as you have extra materials; basic wooden walls won’t hold against larger hordes that show up after day 5. Repair walls immediately after every attack, even if they only have small damage—small cracks turn into big breaches fast. Don’t waste ammo or weapons on small zombie groups; focus on saving strong defenses for larger hordes.
