Editor's Review
Monument Valley 2 is a stunning, peaceful puzzle adventure that surpasses the original in every way. I’ve guided Ro and her child through its surreal, impossible architecture, solved gentle optical illusions, and enjoyed the heartfelt story and beautiful interactive audio. Every level is a handcrafted work of art, with smooth, simple controls that anyone can master. The new Lost Forest chapter adds a lovely environmental theme, and the game works perfectly as a standalone experience. It’s calm, emotional, and never frustrating—ideal for players who love artistic puzzles, relaxing gameplay, and beautiful visual design.

Monument Valley 2 Tips
Monument Valley 2 – Honest Android Review & Newbie Survival Guide
Let me cut straight to the chase: Monument Valley 2 isn’t a sequel that cranks up the challenge—it’s a calmer, more visually stunning continuation that leans into art and heart over brain-bending puzzles. I grabbed it on my Android Pixel the second I saw it, and while it’s not as “wow” as the first game, it’s still one of the most relaxing, beautiful mobile experiences you’ll get.
First off, let’s talk Android performance—no lag, no glitches, runs buttery smooth even on mid-range phones. The touch controls are perfect: tap to move Ro (the mom), drag cranks to spin architecture, slide platforms to make paths. The kid follows her early on, but later splits off—tap to switch between ’em, super easy.
The visuals? Breathtaking. Way more vibrant than the first game—bright oranges, soft pastels, and geometric structures that look like mini works of art. The audio’s just as good, with gentle music that swells when you nail a move, making headphones a must. The story’s sweet—Ro teaching her kid about the valley’s sacred geometry—but it’s not as mysterious as the first game’s crow saga, and some parts get a little confusing with lookalike characters.
The new Lost Forest chapter’s a nice touch, too—four short scenes with an environmental vibe, no extra cost, just a chill detour from the main story. But fair warning: this game’s short (2-3 hours total) and way too easy. Hardcore puzzle fans will be disappointed—no tough challenges like the first game’s Observatory doors.
Newbie Tips You Actually Need (No Spoilers, Promise):
Rotate your phone! Sideways views unlock paths you can’t see when holding it straight. I missed this at first and got stuck for 10 minutes—don’t make my mistake.
Listen to the music. It changes when you’re on the right track, like sliding a platform into place. Saves you from aimlessly twisting stuff.
Don’t rush the kid. If Ro waves at you, backtrack a little—she’s waiting for her child to catch up. No need to panic, there’s no timer.
Test every tap. Poke cranks, platforms, even walls—no harm if nothing happens, and you’ll find hidden tricks faster.
Totem buddy’s your friend. Drag him like furniture, park him on buttons while you walk past—he’s key for some levels.
Now, the downsides: it’s basically a pretty tutorial. Mechanics drop fast, no deep dives, and it ends before you know it. But that’s part of the charm—it’s meant to be zen, not frustrating.
Who’s this for? Anyone who wants a relaxing, visually stunning game to unwind with—perfect for commutes or lazy afternoons. If you loved the first Monument Valley, you’ll dig this, but don’t expect a challenge. If you’re new, you don’t need to play the original—this is a standalone adventure. It’s an 8/10—beautiful, calm, and exactly what you’d want from a Monument Valley sequel.
